I still have a hard time believing that Scandinavian system works. I am kind of open minded here.
However I definitely don’t think it’ll work in my country.
Years after years government keeps failing to outperform market efficiency. Recently there is a plan to build MRT at the cost of $3.8 per passenger. However, free market base busses are only $.20 per passenger and TAXED.
Obviously for that MRT to have any chance of competing with free market solution government need to subsidize it. It doesn’t make any business sense to me. Why would you want a $3.8 per passenger solution where you have a $.20 per passenger solution?
If externalities really worth $3.6 per passenger, why not subsidize busses too?
I am very suspicious of subsidy. Ωστόσο, uneven subsidy often hide even bigger hole inside.
Recently the workers stage demonstration. They block roads. And they got raise. So what’s the point of studying hard and be programmer? Even the lowest level workers can get descent salary by demonstrating.
Recently one tribe racially mass burn houses belonging to another immigrant tribe (Indonesians have many tribes). The sole purpose why we need government is security. Not only government fail to deliver because cops fear the mass, government indirectly help the looters by banning gun. The richer tribe is at fault too for being cowardice and don’t fight back with swords. What’s all the money in the world for if some vermins are going to loot that? You should use money to buy troops to guard your house and strike back.
That’s all the money goes by the way. To thugs enforcing each other rules.
Perhaps in Scandinavian, due to cold temperature and well, racial brotherhood, you can put up with all that. Here we all are enemies. I seriously doubt that socialism do work in Scandinavian. I think Scandinavian countries work despite their government instead of because of their government. Definitely I would want free market in my country and all over the world. The only thing save hard working people, especially the poor, is free market.
When we legitimize people taking money from diligent people, no body bother being productive anymore. It’s a stupid system, but sort of work in Nordic countries. I still remember Lethal Weapon 4 movie where the Jet Lee character says, if you do this in Hong Kong you would have been death. In Asia, human nature is more human like. We’re all selfish jerks and will do whatever it takes to max out our profit. If government dare to deviate from meritocracy a little bit, prepare for abuses. Maybe those Scandinavians are angels?
Who knows. They’re not doing well in the gene pool. Maybe they are no longer human.
